Molecular Biology and Genetics
General Information
Founded in 1994, starting with the Master's program in educational activities, carried out since 2004 in the Department of Biology PhD Program, 2010-2011 Bachelor of Education and Training Education Program since is launch, the department is divided into 41-person student quota. In line with organizational goals and life sciences expansions in molecular biology, molecular microbiology and biotechnology fields are structured in a way that gravity works in the same year the name of the department of Molecular Biology and Genetics Departmen was changed to be effective as amended. Department staff consists of 3 professors, 4 associate professors, 10 assistant professors, 2 PhD research assistants, 14 research assistants, and two experts, one laboratory technician on duty. Research carried out in the framework of the projects of scientific research projects are supported by RESEARCH COUNCIL of TURKEY (TÜBİTAK) GYTE . Seven is the number of current projects funded by TUBITAK, TUBITAK 1001 Both of them, one of the TUBITAK 102, two individual and one of the COST Project.
Department of Chemistry Campus building of the last eight years serving the department Muallimköy Institute, built and equipped Çayırova Campus moved to its new building at the beginning of the year 2010. First floor is foradministrative department building and classrooms and student labs, research labs and other public spaces are on the other storeys. Equipped with Modern devices/molecular genetics/Molecular Biology Enzymes, Molecular cell biology, Fermentation Technology in Molecular Biology/Photodynamic Therapy of cancer/, plant molecular Biology/Microbiology/Molecular plant biotechnology and Microbiology Laboratories with tissue culture and basic applied research underway. Among the information processing Laboratory in the common areas, as well as bacteria and plant grow rooms, cell culture room, three cold, dark room, sterilization room with two hot, two, radioisotope study and waste rooms, located in the greenhouse and animal care unit.

Knows the basic concepts of professional liability, admitted environment against the society, capable of carrying train individuals with protection awareness.
Job Opportunities
Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics Graduate Program graduates take the title “biologist" like the graduates of other departments of the same name in our country. Besides receiving training under the program of modern biology they learn Molecular Genetics, Molecular Biotechnology, Molecular Cell Biology, Cancer Molecular Biology, Structure and Functions of Biomolecules, Plant Biotechnology, Enzyme and Microbial Technology issues.
The demand for the graduates of the Department of molecular biology and genetics is gradually increasing as life sciences in accordance with ongoing developments with great momentum in our country and all over the world. The number of graduates who participate in domestic and foreign research groups specialize in taking graduate education trends and demands of an academic career is relatively high. In addition, graduates of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics are required in molecular-based diagnosis of the private sector and public hospitals, laboratories, test-tube baby units, hospitals, research laboratories, agricultural and veterinary fields of molecular-based research laboratories, food and pharmaceutical industry R & D units, quality control and environmental protection units, were being carried out studies for the conservation of biodiversity identification and research labs, biotech diagnostic laboratories, biotechnology companies, biomedical companies.
