Mathmatics

General Information

Mathematics, which is an indispensable tool of science and technology and applied in almost every field is a research field which is fast developing, and new problems in which all mathmatical truth must be answered are generated. Mathmatics is one of the most important tools which seperates people from other living things by giving the ground to show the ability to make abstractions.

Most of the complicated problems of physics and engineering are converted to some mathmatical links and at the same time some mathmatical problems are applied in different ways by comparing with some mathmatical unit. The new links gained provides to gain new results by reinterpreting with physics and engineering notions.

Our country, striving to catch the modern world, needs highly qualified graduate students in maths which are the main input in research and developing procedures.

In the math department at GIT, by bringing up logical solutions to mainly recent physics and engineering problems, undergraduate, graduate and PhD programs are offered with aim of producing technology and developing the existing technology and advanced research is conducted.

At the same time, maths service courses are opened for the other departments at GTU. Underdgraduate program, as well as theoritical course,  includes applied course(computer etc.)

Departments in Math Department are as follows;

* Department Of Applied Mathematics

* Department of algebra and number theory

* Department Of Topology

* Department Of Geometry

Students wishing to work in this area must have the a superior academic ability and reasoning power. Our department, with the staff having a strong international relations, offers the highest opportunities for Exchange and graduate programs.

The Program Targets

To teach students the basics of mathematics and thus gain the ability to think analytically.

Provide the basis for other programs lessons, to teach students the techniques of research.

To gain students  the ability to develop a mathematical model for the solution of the problems met in daily life.
