What is Erasmus+?

The support for grants provided under the Lifelong Learning Programme, which was conducted by the European Commission between 2007-2013 and ended as of 2014, will continue be provided under Erasmus+ Programme for 2014-2020.

Erasmus+ Program aims to offer more effective tools than before to encourage intersectoral collaboration in line with Europe 2020 Strategy goals for emerging needs in the fields of education, youth and sports.

Specific to the field of higher education, the programme aspires to increase quality in higher education and strengthen the collaboration among the higher education institutions and the business world.

In its most general sense, the target audience of Erasmus activities under the Erasmus+ Programme includes higher education organizations and institutions along with their students and staff. The applications can only be made by those organizations and institutions according to the type of project to Turkish National Agency, or Education, Audio-Visual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), which is part of the European Commission, and no individual applications are accepted.

Affiliated with the Ministry for EU Affairs, The Centre for Education and Youth Programmes (Turkish National Agency) announces the education and youth programmes of the EU in Turkey; coordinates, conducts, and monitors the participation in such programs and submits the related reports to the European Commission; ensures the necessary communication with the EC about the program practices; and signs the implementation contracts.

The actions supported with grants in higher education under Erasmus+ Programme are as follows:

  • Key Action 1 - Learning Mobility of Individuals
    • Mobility of learners and staff
    • Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees
    • Erasmus+ Master Loans
  • Key Action 2 - Cooperation for Innovation and the Exchange of Good Practices
    • Strategic Partnerships
    • Knowledge Alliances
