DASK Earthquake-Resistant Building Design Competition

The Natural Disaster Insurance Institution (DASK) has been organizing the “DASK Earthquake Resistant Building Design Competition” since 2014 in order to contribute to the professional development of future civil engineers who will play an important role in the construction of earthquake-resistant buildings. The competition, which will be held for the seventh time in May 2023, has three main goals:

- To provide civil engineering students with the opportunity to work in earthquake-resistant high building design and model making stages
- To introduce the earthquake engineering profession and encourage students to specialize in this field
- To increase the awareness of earthquakes and earthquake-resistant buildings

The competition is organized between the teams formed by the students of the civil engineering departments of the universities. Teams can participate in the competition with the consultancy of at least one faculty member from the civil engineering department. The competition consists of two stages: design and model making. Building models that have completed these stages are tested on the "shaking table" during the competition under the influence of three different earthquakes. The winning team is determined according to the compliance of the building models with the specifications and their performance on the shaking table simulating the earthquake. The winning team wins an award to the University's Civil Engineering Department, all team member students also receive awards.

Applications for the competition continue until January 27, 2023. You can access more detailed information on the competition and technical requirements on the following website: www.daskbinatasarimi.com
