When selecting courses, please pay attention to the following:

  • Remember to check your curriculum status. You can view the unregistered courses from your curriculum status.
  • If you have previously substituted a course, it is not necessary to take that course again. However, you can retake the course if you want to improve your grade.
  • If there is a tuition fee displayed in the system, you need to pay the tuition fee first before you submit the courses for advisor approval.  (Tuition fees can be paid starting from January 26, 2024.)
  • Your advisor is required to approve your registration for it to be finalized. Otherwise, you will not have renewed your registration.
  • After selecting your courses on the course registration screen, click on the "Kontrol Et" (Preview) button, and then the "Danışman Onayına Gönder" (Submit for Advisor Approval) button to give approval as a student.
  • You cannot select courses from a different department through the system. To select courses from a different department, you need to apply to your department. Those courses will be assigned by the Student Affairs Office based on the Faculty Executive Board Decision.
  • The quotas for courses are determined by the departments. After consulting with your department, if there will be any quota changes, the Student Affairs Office staff must be informed by the Faculty.
  • Once you have approved your courses, you cannot carry out any other procedures regarding the courses. You can contact your advisor to request changes to your courses. Your advisors can make changes to the courses you have selected.
  • If you want changes to be made after your advisor has approved the courses, your advisor must inform the Student Affairs Office to revoke the advisor's approval. Once the advisor's approval is revoked by the Student Affairs Office, you can select courses again.
  • The system will close for course registration from February 16, 2024. Additional time has been given for your advisors to approve your courses.
  • Students who have not completed course registration cannot add or drop courses. Only the students who have completed course registration can add or drop courses.
  • Students subject to the old regulation can take courses worth 30 GTU credits.
  • Students on probation that are subject to the old regulation (students with a CGPA below 2.00) can take a total of 30 GTU credits, including 9 GTU credits from the courses they have not previously taken.
  • All students enrolled from 2017 are subject to the new regulation. Students who enrolled before 2017 and applied for transition to the new regulation are subject to the old regulation. There is no transition from the old regulation to the new regulation.
  • Students subject to the new regulation can take courses equal to 35 ECTS credits in total.
  • Students on probation that are subject to the New Regulation (students with a CGPA below 2.00) can take courses equal to 30 ECTS credits in total.
  • Students subject to the new regulation with a CGPA above 2.50 can take courses equal to 40 ECTS credits in total. You may see "35 ECTS" written at the bottom of the course registration screen, but the system will still allow you to take 40 ECTS credits.
  • Students subject to the new regulation with a CGPA above 2.00 that have completed 160 ECTS credits can take courses equal to 40 ECTS credits in total. You may see "35 ECTS" written at the bottom of the course registration screen, but the system will still allow you to take 40 ECTS credits.
  • Students subject to the new regulation can take courses that equal to a maximum of 40 ECTS credits. It is not possible to carry out course registration for more ECTS credits than specified.
  • First-year students subject to the new regulation cannot take courses that equal to more AKTS values than specified for the 1st year in the curriculum. Students who think their year information is incorrect should contact us  at: ogrenci@gtu.edu.tr
  • Even if your advisor approves exceeding the maximum credit values stated in the regulation, you cannot exceed the maximum credit load students are allowed take as specified in the regulation.
  • Elective courses should be selected according to the curriculum. For example, if there are "3" elective courses in the Fall Semester of the 4th year and "3" elective courses in the Spring Semester of the 4th year in the curriculum, you need to select courses on the course registration screen in the respective semester where you have unregistered courses.
  • You cannot select more elective courses than the number of elective courses specified for the semesters. According to our regulation, the latest course taken is what counts. When selecting courses, you need to select from the elective group where you have unregistered courses in the respective semester.
  • The number of courses you need to take from an elective group in your curriculum is indicated in parentheses. For example, if it says "Nontechnical Elective [0-2]", you need to complete 2 elective courses from that group.
  • If you select a course to improve your grade, the system will ask you to decide in place of which course you are going to take that course.
  • If you have a failed elective course, you should select a course from the elective group where your failed course is listed. If you select too many courses, the system will ask you to decide which course you will replace with the newly selected course.
  • If you will renew your registration for the Spring Semester of 2023-2024, but have unregistered courses in the elective groups of the Fall Semester, you must select the Fall Semester of the class you are in. All elective courses are visible for both the fall and spring semesters. If you notice any discrepancies, please contact us at: ogrenci@gtu.edu.tr
  • The internship course is not a selectable course. Therefore, when selecting your courses during the registration renewal period, you must select your courses without considering the internship course. After completing your internship, your internship grade will be entered into the system by the Student Affairs Office, based on the Faculty Executive Board Decision, after you submit your documents to your department. No tuition fee is required for the internship course.
  • The "Industrial Applications" course with the code MÜH498/ENG498 has been added to the curriculum of the Faculty of Engineering students. This course is not a compulsory course. In their 8th semester, the students will either take 24 ECTS credits of elective courses along with the Graduation Project,  or  the Industrial Applications course (24 ECTS) along with the Graduation Project. (Please click here for the Industrial Applications course regulation and select the regulation numbered YÖ-0093).
  • Students cannot take both an elective course and the Industrial Applications course simultaneously.
  • Course schedules are determined by the departments. For detailed information about the course schedules, you must consult your department.
  • The academic standing of DC and DD letter grade courses is determined by the CGPA. If your CGPA is above 2.00, then DC and DD letter grades are deemed "pass"; if it is below 2.00, they are deemed "fail". The academic standing of courses from previous semesters does not change.
  • Students in the Preparatory Class will not carry out registration renewal.
