"This work plan aims to explore and develop generative AI techniques for chip design, with a focus on the potential of these techniques to optimize layout generation and device optimization while meeting specific design constraints. The goal of this research is to develop new generative models that can significantly reduce the time and cost of IC design, while also improving performance and efficiency. The field seems wide open in the moment we start this research, and thus a few Key research questions and possible methods are suggested"

A research position for one Research Grant (“Bolsa de Investigação“) is open at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of the projects GENERALISE – Generative AI for Analog Chip Design and LAY(RF)^2 – Ready-to-Fabricate RF and mmWave Integrated Circuit Layouts. This Research Grant is in the areas of Electrical and Computer Engineering to explore and develop new generative models and artificial intelligence that can significantly reduce the time and cost of analogue integrated circuit design while improving performance and efficiency. These projects are funded by the research service agreement with Sony Advanced Visual Sensing AG and by FCT/MCTES through national funds and when applicable co-funded EU funds under the project reference UIDB/50008/2020.
