December 28, 2018

The guest speaker in the last program of the "Entrepreneurship and Patent Talks" for 2018-2019, organized every week by GTU's Technology Transfer Office (GTU TTO) under the coordination of Instructor Salih Kükrek, was Karaköy Güllüoğlu's CEO Nadir Güllü. GTU Technopark Inc.'s General Manager Mustafa Güray Değerli made the opening speech of the program, and remarked that GTU is willing to start R&D activities for food, including "baklava", to maintain its freshness for long times, which is very important for soldiers on duty working in the defense industry. In the talk he made, Nadir Güllü, who is the owner of Güllüoğlu that continues its activities in Karaköy, Istanbul for 70 years, provided information about the history of "baklava" and how they have plied their trade as a family for years, stating that the key to their success has been their "love" for what they do.

Following his speech, Güllü conducted a Q&A session, and presented students with gifts. In return for his kind gesture, Güllü was presented by Mustafa Güray Değerli with olive oil made from the olive trees' produce at GTU campus, and by Salih Kükrek with a pen.

After the event, trees were planted in TTO's garden for remembrance of the event day. It was reported that Karaköy Güllüoğlu and GTU faculty members will come together later on and plan R&D activities in the field of food.
