Academic Approach to Beykoz from GTU's Architecture Students

Senior GTU architecture students and faculty members perform architectural surveying on historical structures and buildings in Beykoz within the scope of the "Analysis of Historical Buildings" course

GTU architecture students conducting studies on historical structures and buildings in Paşabahçe and İncirköy neighborhoods  of Beykoz under the leadership of GTU Architecture Department Head Prof. Elif Özlem Aydın (PhD) started works to prepare the surveying-restitution-restoration projects of the structures. A total of 6 faculty members and 45 students participated in the study, which aims to teach students the approaches and processes for designing projects and produce architects with social awareness. Among the histrorical structures surveyed by the students are Paşabahçe Ayios Konstantinos and Ayia Eleni Churches, Mahmut Bey Mansion and Alyüzler House. As part of the study, the owners of the structures were also contacted and interviewed. The resulting projects are planned to be submitted to the Municipality of Beykoz at the end.
