Fish Island Project Complete

GTU continues to be a solution partner in many projects in line with the needs of its region. One of such projects, the Karamürsel Fish Island Project, has recently been completed.

The "Karamürsel Municipality Fish Island Social Facilities Project", whose design, construction drawings and controllership have been undertaken by GTU Architecture Department Faculty Member İbrahim Türkeri (PhD) and Arhitect Gönül Karademir, has been completed. The construction activities of the project, which aimed to replan the Fish Island with an existing 6 thousand 900 square meters area of land, started in March 2017. Within the scope of the project, an unusual construction production took place with the use of sustainable materials. The project is drawing attention with its architecture, which aims to improve the quality of public and urban life on the coast of Karamürsel, and it offers an experience where one can feel the city, with a closed-open-half open space setup incorporated into the coastline. The project, which aims to revive further Karamürsel's coastal life with restaurants where Karamürsel cuisine will be displayed, fish market buffets, and the giant flag pole rising on water, has attracted great attention from the local people and the local authorities in districts nearby.
