Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım opens GTU Industry and Technology Summit

The opening ceremony of "Industry and Technology Summit", organized by GTU under the aegis of the Turkish Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology and the Governorship of Kocaeli to bring together academy and sector representatives, to support the meeting of industrialists' need for qualified labor force, to highlight R&D projects, and to emphasize the importance of Gebze region in Turkey's 2023 vision by taking university-industry collaboration to the next level, was carried out on April 11, 2018 with the opening speech made by Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, who graced the Summit with his presence.

Fikri Işık, Deputy Prime Minister; Faruk Özlü, Minister of Science, Industry and Technology; Hüseyin Aksoy, Governor of Kocaeli; Faruk Şekerci, Deputy Undersecretary, Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology; İbrahim Karaosmanoğlu, Mayor, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality; Prof. Sadettin Hülagü (PhD), Rector, Kocaeli University; Prof. Ekrem Savaş (PhD), Rector, Uşak University; district governors; Mustafa Murat Şeker, Vice President, Aselsan Executive Board; Necati Denizci, Provincial Police Chief; Captain Osman Aslan, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander; mayors of regional districts; Ayhan Zeytinoğlu, Chair, Kocaeli Chamber of Commerce; Nail Çiler, Chair, Gebze Chamber of Commerce; academics; presidents of organized industrial zones; business people; and students were also present at the Summit, which was hosted by GTU. The greeting speech of the summit was made by GTU Rector Prof. Haluk Görgün, PhD.

Honoring the opening ceremony with his presence, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım stated in his opening speech that the best practices of university-industry collaboration in Turkey will be presented for 4 days within the scope of the Summit.  Pointing out to the fact the Summit will contribute to the realization of Republic of Turkey's goals for its 100th establishment anniversary, Yıldırım asserted that he believed the Summit will produce serious benefits for the country. Underlining that the great progress made by GTU in the course of 4 years is no coincidence, Yıldırım said the university's location at the heart of industry has contributed a lot to this progress.
