Department of Architecture Protects Cultural Heritage in Orhaneli, Bursa

GTU Department of Arhitecture has been conducting architectural documentation for 8 registered buildings in Orhaneli district of Bursa, Turkey since 2016-2017 academic year to this day. 

An exhibition including the surveying, restitution and restoration projects for 4 registered traditional buildings that were architecturally documented in 2016-2017 academic year opened with the participation of Orhaneli Mayor; GTU faculty members Prof. Elif Özlem Oral Aydın, Res. Asst. Sena Güneş, Res. Asst. Selin Öztürk, Res. Asst. Şeyda Arslan, Res. Ars. Cem Balcan; GTU students; and the local people on October 3, 2017. GTU and Orhaneli Municipality have been working together to complete the surveying, restitution and restoration projects, and to find financial support for the restoration of these buildings. The documentation carried out for 2017-2018 academic year has been sponsored by Gebze Chamber of Commerce and Turkuaz Space Frame and Steel Construction Systems Ltd. so far. The protection of cultural heritage of Orhaneli by the collaboration of various institutions and organizations will contribute to the cultural sustainability and economic development  of the district in the long term.
