Support from GTU in Fight Against Addiction

A program was organized by Gebze Technical University (GTU) Rectorate to support efforts in combating addiction. During the program, a seminar on Fight Against Addiction was held, and brochures on addiction on campus were handed out by the relevant personnel of the security forces.

The Fight Against Addiction Seminar took place in the Red Hall of the GTU Congress and Cultural Center and was conducted by Psychologist Cavit Barış Gezginci from the Darıca Social Services Directorate. The seminar was attended by GTU Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Damla Arısan, GTU Secretary-General Nadir Yıldırım, as well as GTU administrative and academic staff and students. In his speech, Gezginci defined addiction, discussed the criteria for addiction, and explained the developmental structure of addiction. He emphasized that the most important thing for not becoming addicted is saying "No!". Describing addiction as a psychological illness, Gezginci outlined the methods of treatment for addiction and provided information about treatment institutions. Following this, he answered questions from the students during a Q&A session.

In another part of the program, brochures designed to combat addiction were distributed on campus by GTU Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Damla Arısan and personnel from the Kocaeli Provincial Police Department's Narcotics Crimes Branch.
