Green Energy and Climate Action for Sustainability Discussed

A seminar on green energy and climate action is organized by GTU Sustainability Coordination Office for students and academics.

During the Sustainability Information Day held at GTU Congress and Cultural Center as part of the European Youth Week, students had the opportunity to attend a seminar that would broaden their horizons on clean energies and climate action. During the seminar, Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdülkerim Gök from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at GTU discussed the current situation of solar panels and solar energy in our country and around the world. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pınar Ergenekon from the Department of Environmental Engineering at GTU talked about the impact of climate change on the future and climate action. Lastly, Prof. Dr. Melek Özkan, also from the Department of Environmental Engineering at GTU and the Coordinator of the Sustainability Office, presented discussions on Sustainable Development Goals and future projections related to clean energies.

In this seminar, where participants showed a high level of interest in sustainability and solar energies, students expressed their request for an increase in the number of elective courses related to sustainability during the question and solution suggestions section.
