The project proposal titled "BALAVCA REVISITED", prepared by Research Assistant Dr. Nüket İpek Çetin, along with Research Assistant Emre Söylemez from GTU's Faculty of Architecture, Department of City and Regional Planning, and Beyzanur Şahin, Ahmet Faruk Arancı, and Emre Fındık, students from the same department, has been awarded the 2nd HONORABLE MENTION in the "Balavca Creek and Surroundings Idea Project Competition" organized by Milas Municipality, aiming to establish Balavca Creek and its surroundings as a Multilayered Natural and Cultural Living Corridor.

The project focuses on directing micro-watershed management strategies for Balavca Creek located in Milas District of Muğla, by defining nature and culture as "Water and Memory Landscape." It reconnects the creek with urban life within a framework that integrates natural and cultural heritage elements along with socio-economic values, in the historical development process of the city. Based on the relationship between past-present-future, spatial requirements are provided to increase the functionality and restoration of the creek corridor. While evaluating the "Water and Memory Landscape" elements of Balavca Creek, the richness of the Milas-Bodrum Sub-Basin, in which Milas city center is located, beyond the morphological and spatial development dynamics of Milas, has also been taken into account.
