GTU and GTO Come Together in University-Industry Collaboration

GTU and GTO organize an informative seminar within the scope of enhancing university-industry collaboration.

The seminar, hosted by Gebze Technical University (GTU), took place in the GTU Congress and Cultural Center's Conference Hall. GTU Vice-Rector Professor Dr. Mahmut Durmuş, Gebze Chamber of Commerce (GTO) Chairman of the Board Abdurrahman Aslantaş, Chairman of the Vocational Committee Cahit Alper Altunel, committee members, GTU students, and academics attended the seminar program.

In his opening speech, GTU Vice-Rector Professor Dr. Mahmut Durmuş expressed the importance of students graduating ready for the industry, emphasizing that they value students being prepared for the industry upon graduation. He mentioned the pride they feel in being the university with the fastest employment rate for alumni according to the evaluations by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). He highlighted that education at GTU is designed to meet the requirements of the era and integrates various disciplines. He thanked GTO members for bringing the industry to the university.

The other opening speech was delivered by GTO Chairman of the Board Abdurrahman Aslantaş. He spoke about the opportunities, facilities, and values ​​of GTO. Referring to the dizzying pace of change in the world, Aslantaş discussed the changes between theory and the demands of the sector. He reiterated their commitment to supporting GTU students in every aspect.

During the program moderated by the Chairman of the Vocational Committee, Cahit Alper Altunel, representatives from companies provided information about metal fabrication products. Altunel spoke about the objectives of the program, saying, "We are here to guide our students, who are the guarantee of our future, to encourage them, and to show them, even if only to some extent, how the knowledge learned at university is applied in the field."

Following the opening speeches, representatives from Turkuaz Structural Steel Inc., Turan Durmuşoğlu, from Kartal Bombe and Pressurized Tanks, Bilal Kartal, and from Yağmur Scaffolding Systems, Niyazi Kotan, shared professional information about their respective fields and answered questions from the students.

At the end of the program, plaques were presented by GTU Vice-Rector Professor Dr. Mahmut Durmuş to participating company owners and those who contributed to the program. The companies also displayed sample models of their products in the foyer area.
