GTU Academic Makes It to Finals in EU CETPartnership Programme

Innovative Project for Biotechnological CO2 Fixation: The team led by Prof. Dr. Barış Binay has advanced to the finals in the European Union's Clean Energy Transition Partnership Program.

The project application from Türkiye, hosted by Gebze Technical University's (GTU) Department of Biomedical Engineering under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Barış Binay, has reached the "full proposal" stage, making it to the finals. The project application, named "Biomimetic CO2 Fixation and Utilization for Formate Production," was submitted under the Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETPartnership) Program of the European Union, specifically in response to the TRI3 CM2023-04 Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS) call. Out of 76 projects, this proposal is one of the four finalists for the "full proposal."

The project aims to develop a device focused on enzymatic solutions for biotechnological CO2 fixation that can be utilized in the industry. It is conducted in collaboration with a total of six universities from Finland, Italy, Greece, and Türkiye.
