GTU academics receive TÜBA-GEBİP Awards from Dear Mr. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

At the Beştepe National Congress and Culture Center, GTU academics Prof. Dr. Bünyemin Çoşut and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sadiye Velioğlu received their awards from President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the 100th Year TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) and TÜBA (Turkish Academy of Sciences) Science Awards Ceremony.

In the field of inorganic chemistry, Prof. Dr. Bünyemin Çoşut, a faculty member at the Department of Chemistry under GTU's Faculty of Science, and in the field of nanotechnology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sadiye Velioğlu, a faculty member at GTU's Institute of Nanotechnology, were honored with the outstanding successful young scientist award.

GTU Rector Prof. Dr. Hacı Ali Mantar expressed his pride in the academics, who received the TÜBA-GEBİP (Outstanding Successful Young Scientist) award. Mantar said, "As a university, we are producing high-value knowledge and products in line with the needs of our country, and we will continue to do so. These kinds of awards serve as a beautiful indicator of the value of our contributions. The awards received by our academics have motivated us in our efforts to advance science and technology in our country."

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sadiye Velioğlu's project under TÜBA-GEBİP aims to recover and reuse organic solvents commonly used in various chemical processes and released into the environment. In this exciting study, the focus will be on investigating membrane technologies promising low-cost, high-efficiency, and high-purity separation potential. Particularly emphasizing the recovery of solvents commonly used in the paint industry, the project will meticulously address the separation processes between paint and solvent using original nanomaterial-based membranes. This innovative approach aims not only to support environmental sustainability, but also to make significant progress in industrial applications.

Prof. Dr. Bünyemin Çoşut's project under TÜBA-GEBİP aims to prepare porous metal-organic structures with controllable pore size and photochemical behaviors using photosensitizers with different photonic properties. The project also aims to use these porous materials to produce green hydrogen through photocatalysts. The project is strategically important as it will contribute significantly to achieving the goals outlined in the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, the European Green Deal, and the 2030 Climate Target Plan, and it holds a significant R&D quality in the field of hydrogen.
