İSU Delivers Seminar for GTU Students

Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality İSU General Directorate shares information and experience regarding water management practices and initiatives with Gebze Technical University (GTU) students.

Specialists and staff from the Kocaeli Water and Sewerage Administration (İSU) General Directorate have provided information to GTU students about the infrastructure and management systems studies related to global climate change and water management carried out by the institution. Faculty members also showed interest in the seminar series, which covered topics such as drinking water management, basin modeling, geographic information systems, wastewater management, wastewater transfer, and recycled water.

Within the scope of the trainings, example projects such as Recycled Water Application; Conservation, Management, and Modeling of Water Resources; Kocaeli Wastewater Transfer Monitoring System (KATİS) and Septic Tank Tracking Applications; Wastewater SCADA System; Drinking Water Canal Infrastructure Information System (İKABİS) Application; Reduction of Water Losses; Hydraulic Modeling; and Water Operating System (SUIS) Application were introduced, and their processes and practices were explained.

Prof. Dr. Nihal Bektaş, Head of the Department of Environmental Engineering at GTU, expressed that the advanced technology applications, treatment methods, and water management practices conveyed through the seminars were highly beneficial for students, university staff, and the academics involved in water management. Prof. Bektaş stated that they were planning to enhance knowledge sharing and collaboration later on by examining the on-site practices and activities through technical visits.

At the end of the program, a certificate of appreciation was presented by Prof. Bektaş to the İSU executives who delivered presentations.
