The GTU-MERLİN Team secures 4th position in the "Design, Build, Fly Vertical Take-Off and Landing UAV-VTOL’23 Competition" organized by METU

The GTU-MERLİN Team, affiliated with the GTU Aviation and Space Club (HUK), has secured the 4th position among 19 teams in the "METU-VTOL" competition held in Ankara. This marked the team's first participation in the METU-VTOL competition, which is in its 7th year and sponsored by the American aerospace company Boeing. GTU-MERLİN excelled by finishing in 1st place in the reporting stage, advancing to the finals, and ultimately achieving 4th place. Additionally, the GTU-MERLİN Team demonstrated success in the international competition's first stage by completing the most laps and, in the second stage, being one of the two teams that carried the most water as required by the task.

Eren Kalyoncu, a 3rd-year student from the Department of Aeronautical Engineering at GTU's Aerospace Faculty, along with 2nd-year students Göktuğ Tozlu, Burak Akçay, and 1st-year student Kerim Selim Turan; Semih Tiryakiol, a 1st-year student from the Department of Mechanical Engineering; Ebeda Beşdok, a 1st-year student from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering; Hamza Hanedar, a 3rd-year student from the Department of Electronics Engineering, Oğuzhan Dik, a 2nd-year student; Ahmet Acıkök, a 2nd-year student from the Department of Computer Engineering, Alperen Söylen, a 1st-year student; and Hacer İpek, a 4th-year student from the Department of Physics, participated in the VTOL Competition organized by Middle East Technical University (METU).
