3rd of the Science Talks in the 100th Year of the Republic Held

In the 100th year of the Republic, Prof. Dr. Sadettin Hülagü adds to the enthusiasm of the Republic with his presentation titled "Türkiye as a Leading Country and Strategic Objectives." 

The celebrations for the 100th year of the Republic continue at Gebze Technical University (GTU). In this context, the 3rd of the "Science Talks in the 100th Year of the Republic" program was organized. Former Rector of Kocaeli University, Former Presidential Adviser, and Member of the 28th Parliament, Prof. Dr. Sadettin Hülagü, was a guest speaker at the event.

The program, held at GTU Congress and Cultural Center, was attended by GTU Rector Prof. Dr. Hacı Ali Mantar, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Işıl Kurnaz and Prof. Dr. Mahmut Durmuş, Gebze Director of National Education Şener Doğan, academics, and university and high school students. In his presentation titled "Türkiye as a Leading Country and Strategic Objectives in the 100th Year of the Republic," Prof. Dr. Sadettin Hülagü highlighted important points about the past, present, and future of our country.

The program began with a moment of silence and the national anthem. In his speech, Prof. Hülagü emphasized that, given our country's geographical location and the mission derived from our history, it is impossible for us to fall behind in science. He pointed out that our nation, which has been in a struggle for existence since past periods, has always had the strength to overcome difficulties.

Prof. Hülagü mentioned Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's goal of reaching the level of contemporary civilizations, and highlighted the importance given to decisions coming from the parliament as an indication of the importance of the nation's will even in the conditions of war at Atatürk's time. Hülagü also emphasized the significance of education through education congresses held during that period. He stated that today Türkiye has become a powerful country in her region and a globally-influential one thanks to this awareness.

Prof. Hülagü also talked about Türkiye's recent advancements, from the defense industry to the automotive sector. He stated that in Türkiye Century, the country has moved beyond the roles assigned to it, breaking the notion of "cannot do, cannot achieve." Hülagü concluded his speech by saying, "We need to work hard, taking science as our guide, and we must stand determined to build the future of Türkiye with the capabilities of our universities and R&D, protecting Türkiye's rights and interests under all circumstances. I believe that, with our universities and youth, who are aware of their responsibility towards this country, we have the power to overcome everything."
