The project team at Gebze Technical University (GTU) for the EU project titled "Carbon Management Training for the Entrepreneurs of a Net Zero Carbon Future (Net0Manager-Carbon Management Training Course for the Entrepreneurs of a Net Zero tomorrow)" consists of Prof. Dr. Selçuk Toprak from the Department of Civil Engineering (Project University Coordinator), Prof. Dr. Banu Çetin and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Balçık from the Department of Environmental Engineering, and Research Assistant Oğuz Dal from the Department of Civil Engineering. The project, in which Gebze Technical University is a partner organization, will be funded by the European Commission and the Italian National Agency within the scope of the 2023 Erasmus+ Program, Key Action 2-Cooperation Partnerships (KA220-VET). The project is led by Training 2000 and involves 6 partners from 6 different countries, including Gebze Technical University from Türkiye, Innogestiona Ambiental SL from Spain, European Entrepreneurs CEA-PME from Belgium, Sunrise Valley Science and Technology Park from Lithuania, and HETFA Research Institute from Hungary.

Prof. Dr. Selçuk Toprak, the representative and project coordinator of this international project at GTU, stated that the project aims to enhance the carbon management competencies of managers and support them in implementing innovative and flexible training methodologies through micro-competencies-based training and competency recommendations for vocational trainers in the field. The primary goal of the Net0Manager project is to encourage SMEs to adopt net-zero approaches and improve managers' skills and attitudes regarding carbon management, aligning with one of the priorities of the EU's 2050 long-term strategy. The project aims to strengthen carbon literacy rates through a student-centered education format that promotes innovation and flexibility in vocational education and training, while also increasing inclusivity, access, and equality. The project is expected to be completed in 2025 and will support the development of the necessary skills to empower future net-zero-emission businesses, in line with the new Green Deal Industrial Plan (2023).
