GTU Graduation Ceremony Held for 2022-2023 Academic Year

Gebze Technical University (GTU) held its 2022-2023 Academic Year's Graduation Ceremony with a grand event. Undergraduates and graduates, who received their well-deserved diplomas after a period of intensive work, were excited to graduate from GTU, which ranks highly in the list of Türkiye's and the world's best universities.
Addressing the esteemed graduates of Gebze Technical University, Rector Prof. Dr. Hacı Ali Mantar emphasized the significance of university graduation and congratulated the students. Prof. Dr. Mantar pointed out that graduation is the result of a long and hardworking process and wished young graduates success at the beginning of their new lives.
Highlighting the importance of graduation during this special period as Republic of Türkiye prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary, Rector Mantar emphasized that graduates take on the responsibility of shaping the country's future. He expressed that they are equipped with the skills to take to the country forward while remaining committed to national and moral values.
Rector Mantar emphasized the need for qualified human resources in the field of R&D in Türkiye. He encouraged graduates to contribute to the country's competitiveness and sustainable solutions through R&D activities.
Addressing the issue of brain drain and overseas opportunities, Rector Mantar mentioned that it is undesirable for individuals educated in the country to stay abroad. He believed that young graduates would lead Türkiye's development.
Rector Mantar mentioned that university life is filled not only with lessons, but also with social activities. He stated that graduates, equipped with the knowledge and experiences they gained during their university years, would become future leaders, turning challenges into opportunities and adding value not only to themselves, but also to their communities and society.
Finally, expressing gratitude for the faculty members who nurtured the graduates and for their supporting parents and loved ones, Rector Mantar expressed his confidence in GTU graduates making Türkiye's future bright and hopeful.
Speaking on behalf of all graduates, Yeşim Yalçın, the top graduate of the Faculty of Engineering; Sümeyye Yılmaz, the top graduate of the Faculty of Architecture, and Mahir Safa Turuş, the top graduate of the Faculty of Business Administration, expressed their happiness for being graduates of Gebze Technical University. They thanked both their teachers and their friends, leaving behind a university life filled with beautiful memories. They also expressed their gratitude for their families who raised them.
Additionally, Çayırova Mayor Bünyamin Çiftçi completed his graduate education at GTU's Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences, and was awarded his diploma. Yusuf Gül, Executive Assistant to Gebze District Governor, also completed his graduate education at the Institute of Social Sciences. Prof. Dr. Mevlüt Karabulut, Director, Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences, presented Mayor Çiftçi with his graduation gown.
Furthermore, the daughter of the world-renowned Heart Surgeon Prof. Dr. Bingür Sönmez also completed her graduate education at GTU. Sönmez attended the ceremony, presented his daughter's graduation gown, and congratulated her.
The Graduation Ceremony continued with the presentation of plaques to students who achieved top honors and the distribution of graduation certificates to all graduates. After the reading of the graduate oath, the ceremony came to an end with the traditional tossing of graduation caps.
