Materials Science and Engineering

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at GTU provides undergraduate and graduate education, and the department faculty consists of 7 professors, 6 associate professors and 3 assistant professors, most of whom received their PhD degrees from universities abroad. The department produced its first graduates from the undergraduate program at the end of the 2005-2006 academic year.

Within the department, research projects are conducted on various topics and these topics include solar energy, hydrogen energy, fuel cells, fabrication and characterization of ceramics, surface modification and coating of metallic materials, biomaterials, electronic applications of ceramics, nano-sized synthesis and examination of materials, thin films, and semiconductor technologies.

There are two research centers within the department and both have been established with the aim to conduct advanced research on the respective topics.
