Message from the Dean

Dear students,

At Gebze Technical University, established as Gebze Institute of Technology in 1992 and later changed its name to the current one in 2014, graduate education at the Department of Architecture and the Department of City and Regional Planning has been pursued since 1996. As of 2015, we also started offering a PhD program and a non-thesis (evening classes) master’s program in Architecture. As part of these programs, a contemporary education model that can compete on national and international levels, that can produce rational solutions by identifying environmental, social and profession-related issues, and that aims to be effective in the fields of research and application is applied. As our future colleagues in the fields of Architecture and City and Regional Planning, you can improve yourself by conducting research, projects and thesis studies on current subjects under the coordination of our faculty members, who are experts in their fields. In addition, the Department of Industrial Design within the Faculty is planned to start education and teaching soon.

With our undergraduate program in Architecture, which started in 2008, we aspire to produce research-oriented ARCHITECTS that can protect universal ethical values, that can question and use the body of relevant knowledge, that can think independently and critically, that can use modern technology and generate rational solutions for profession-related issues, and that have  social and environmental awareness.

In parallel with GTU as a whole, which is one of the leading institutions in scientific publication production, the high-level of scientific performance of our Faculty is naturally reflected on the quality of education you are receiving. Furthermore, being closely located to İstanbul, Kocaeli and Bursa in a unique natural environment, our campus offers an enjoyable university experience.
