National Medicine Studies At GTU About To Be Completed

The studies at GTU towards the synthesis and production of Favipiravir, which is commonly used for the treatment of COVID-19, are  about to be completed. Prof. İrem Kulu (PhD) from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science at GTU said that the importance of national medicine has once again come forward during the pandemic. Stating they have been conducting studies on the treatment, Prof. Kulu remarked: "We have been continuing our studies to develop a more economical, environment-friendly and industrially-compliant production process of Favipiravir. We have a both academically and industrially competent team for this. We will submit the methods we have been developing to our project partner, the Ministry of National Defense, soon."
