Dr. Elif Seymour Delivers a Talk As Part of GTU's Biotechnology Seminars
December 31, 2018
Dr. Elif Seymour from ASELSAN's Research Center was this week's guest speaker as part of the Biotechnology Seminars, organized by GTU's Institute of Biotechnology. Dr. Seymour delivered a seminar on "A microarray-based immunosensor for rapid and robust detection of viral pathogens”.
Seymour's talk focused on strategies for improving the microarray performance for specific and sensitive detection of viruses utilizing Single-Particle Interferometric Reflectance Imaging Sensor (SP-IRIS). SP-IRIS is a simple, label-free microarray-based biosensor capable of imaging individual nanoparticles. Seymour also discussed the use of DNA-directed antibody immobilization to improve the sensitivity and robustness of the assay, and provided a brief summary of the biosensor studies performed at the ASELSAN Research Center.
At the end of the seminar, Dr. Elif Seymour answered participants' questions, and the master's and doctoral program students who delivered the best presentations of the semester at the seminars were presented with gifts.
