GTU's Department of Architecture Receives "MİAK" Accreditation

Continuing to work for the compliance of its academic programs with contemporary, internationally-recognized and universally-accepted standards, GTU has just received another accreditation; this time from MİAK, the Architectural Accrediting Board. The Faculty of Architecture at GTU has received a 3-year accreditation for its Undergraduate Program in Architecture, offered by the Department of Architecture. 

With the decision taken by MİAK on July 9, 2018, and as a result of the evaluations made under the MİAK 2014 Accreditation Requirements, the Undergraduate Program in Architecture, Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, GTU, has completed its MİAK accreditation process, and gained the right to a "3-Year Accreditation". Extending over a period of 3 years, the Department of Architecture's activitites to acquire the accreditation had started with the submission of a letter of intent to MİAK on February 24, 2017. A self-evaluation report had also been submitted on the same day. The visit program by MİAK was carried out between May 21-23, 2018, and the Accreditation Certificate and final report were presented to the Department of Architecture on December 27, 2018.

As the only institution that accredits architecture programs in Turkey, MİAK has been auditing the institutions that provide architecture education in line with universal criteria, and accrediting them. The main purpose of MİAK and its accreditation process is the improvement of public welfare by the production of better-educated and highly-qualified architects through the evaluation of architectural education and competency development activities. As GTU Family, we congratulate the academics of our Department of Architecture, which has proven that it conducts its Undergraduate Program in Architecture based on approved standards.
