GTU Academics Introduce Their Fields to High School Students

GTU academics introduced their own fields of specialization in all their aspects to Yücel Boru Science High School's students at Yücel Boru Science High Career Days.

Gebze Yücel Boru Science High School's administration organized "Career Days" between 17-21 December 2018 in order to contribute to its students' choice of profession and career plans. GTU academics who were invited to the Career Days met Yücel Boru Science High students and provided them with information about their fields in general, the current state of employment in their fields, and recent developments and predictions related to their fields. On the first day, Professor Işıl Kurnaz (PhD), Faculty Member, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Faculty of Science, GTU, and Director, Insitute of Biotechnology, GTU, came together with the students. Professor Kurnaz talked about the studies and her own studies in the field of molecular biology and genetics.

Participating in the program the same day, Associate Professor Meral Elçi (PhD), Faculty Member, Faculty of Business Administration, GTU, delivered the students a presentation on her studies in the areas including psychotechnical tests, staff selection and placement, and career planning. Following her presentation, Professor Elçi also conducted a color personality survey with the students.

On the last day of Career Days, Prof. Ayşe Gül Gürek (PhD), Faculty Member, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, GTU; Prof. Savaş Berber (PhD), Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, GTU; and Assoc. Prof. Ayten Kandilli (PhD), Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, GTU, provided students with information on their own fields and then answered the students' questions. Besides GTU academics, Sema Dede from GTU's Career Development Center made several presentations and contributed to the Career Days.
