Architecture/Culture/Society Seminar Series 5 and 6 take place at GTU

The guest speaker of the fifth seminar under the seminar series titled MİM 182 "Architecture/Culture/Society", which started on March 7, 2018 and which is organized by GTU's Faculty of Architecture, was Ali Taptık with his talk titled "Kelimeler, Çizgiler, Sözcükler: Mekansal Anlatılar İnşa Etme" (Words, Lines, Words: Building Spatial Narratives), while Canan Kiraz was the sixth speaker with her talk titled "Duyu, Mekan, Koku" (Sense, Space, Scent). The both seminars took place at the conference hall in Block N, Faculty of Architecture at GTU.

About Ali Taptık

Currently teaching photography at the Department of Fine Arts at Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Ali Taptık graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, ITU, and completed his master's studies at the same institution. Taptık did his master's thesis on the "Representation of the City and Architecture in 19th Century Photos of Istanbul" (İstanbul Fotoğraflarında Kent ve Mimarinin Temsili) and is currently a PhD student at the Architectural Design Program at ITU. Besides his national and international works titled "Looking at İstanbul, "Tangent", "Merdians", "Nothing Surprising", "Kaza ve Keder", "Familiar Strangers", "White Lies", "Citadel", "Remembering Me", "Towards a flora", Taptık has books titled "Cahiers No:02", "İstanbul'u Resmetmek", "Transit", "Open House", and "Kaza ve Kader".

About Canan Kiraz

Canan Kiraz is currently a master's student at GTU, conducting studies on her thesis titled "Kokunun Mekânsal Deneyimdeki Farkedilme ve Aktarılma Aralığı: Tasarım Stüdyoları".
