Kazakhs Visit GTU

A committee consisting of the governor of Atyrau and businesspeople from Kazakhstan recently visited GTU. The committee expressed they were very impressed with GTU’s university-industry collaborations, research infrastructure, academic and physical facilities and opportunities.

Visiting Gebze Organized Industrial Zone, which is shown as a model for organized industrial zones in Turkey, the Kazakhstan committee consisting of Atyrau Governor Nurlan Nogayev and the accompanying members of local administration and businesspeople also visited GTU. GTU Rector Prof. Haluk Görgün hosted the committee in his office with the participation of Vahit Yıldırım, Chairman of the Executive Board, GOSB. Prof. Görgün provided the committee with significant information about GTU, the university’s role among the organized industrial zones, and the network of relations within this structure. Next, Görgün made a visual presentation for the guests at the Faculty of Architecture at GTU and explained them the academic and research-oriented mission of the university. Mentioning GTU’s position in the university rankings home and abroad, Görgün pointed out to GTU’s areas of research and development, and to the laboratories and facilities where all these take place. Following this, the laboratories at GTU Institute of Nanotechnology was visited and detailed information was provided about the research and development activitites conducted there. At the end of the visit, Governor Nurlan Nogayev expressed to Prof. Görgün that he was very impressed with what he saw at GTU.
