GTU Faculty Member among the Women Scientists of 2017

GTU Molecular Biology and Genetics Faculty Member, Assistant Professor Ayşe Koca Çaydaşı, who has been searching for a cure for cancer, has been awarded by L’Oréal and UNESCO. Çaydaşı, who is among the 6 women scientists awarded with the International “For Women in Science” fellowship granted this year for the 15th time, earned this fellowship for the studies she intends to conduct to control cell division related to cancer. The final stage before cell division is where the final controls and fixes could be made. An understanding of this process is just as necessary to understand the molecular foundations of abnormal cell division. Çaydaşı’s research will help reveal the molecular mechanisms of the factors that cause cancer and will develop potential target mechanisms in the fight against cancer. Commenting on her success, Çaybaşı spoke as follows: “As a scientist who is just at the beginning of her independent career, I have spent an important part of my time searching for a fellowship to be able to conduct my studies. L’Oréal Turkey For Women In Science Fellowship will help me achieve a lot during my career. I will have the chance to start my research thanks to this award. I am so happy to be deemed worthy of it. I thank everyone involved, particularly L’Oréal Unesco For Women In Science.”
