International Students at GTU feel as if they were at home

A meeting program was organized for international students studying at GTU and Rector Prof. Dr. Haluk GÖRGÜN had a chat with the students and listened to their requests and suggestions.

Orientation program was held for Türkiye Scholarship students who started Turkish Preparatory course at Gebze Technical University (GTU) in November 2016.

With their presentation, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality International Student Unit also attended the orientation program organized jointly by SEM (Lifelong Education Center) and the International Relations Office. GTU Rector Prof. Dr. Haluk GÖRGÜN, International Relations Office Coordinator Prof. Dr. Işıl KURNAZ, SEM Manager Bünyemin ÇOŞUT, Technology Transfer Office Manager Abdurrahman GÜNGÖR, Vice Executive Assistant Mevlüdiye GÜZEL, KMM International Student Unit Coordinator Cüneyt ARI, instructors and international students attended the program.

Meeting the staff and the rector who will support them throughout their education, new students have been very pleased with the interest shown to them. Türkiye Scholarship students who got Turkish Preparatory course at Kocaeli University in previous years started to get this course at GTU SEM from this year on. In the orientation program with approximately 30 students from 19 countries consisted of Palestine, Yemen, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Mongolia, Somalia, Djibouti, Thailand, Morites Island, Sudan, Kenya, Colombia, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Benin, Tunisia, Chad.

Stating that he has been doing his best in order to make especially international students feel at home, Rector GÖRGÜN listened to their requests and suggestions. He also celebrated his birthday with them cutting the cake prepared for his birthday with the students.
