UAVs Competed in GTU

Gebze Technical University hosted UAV contest awards ceremony held by The Scientific And Technological Research Council Of Turkey (TUBITAK). Young UAV pilots catched eyes with talent.

The Unmanned Aerial Vehicles race which held for the first time in Turkey aimed generalization of using UAV’s for civilian use like helping people in an emergency such as a fire or accidents. High school and college students UAV Pilots made an indelible impression as they executed fierce struggle with talent. The competition organized by TUBİTAK and hosted by GTÜ. GTÜ Rector Prof. Haluk Görgün, GTÜ Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Abdurrahman Akyol, TÜBİTAK Vice President Erol ARCAKLIOĞLU, TAA Board Member Nejat Bilgin, TUBITAK managers participated in the event.

WE ARE PROUD OF YOUTH

GTÜ Rector Prof. Haluk Görgün, expressed his pleasure to host this competition. In his speech, evaluated Turkey’s flight history by referred Ismail Cevheri and today’s Turkey has world's most important airline companies. Prof. Görgün said, “Owing to our brilliant youth that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s ‘The future is in the skies’ saying is principle for them, we look forward confidence. These young people will be milestone of our country’s being able to produce as munitions, producing the national helicopter, having an important national airline company while getting prepared for our 2013 goals”.

WE SUPPORT UAV’S

Another speech at the award ceremony given by TÜBİTAK Vice President Prof. Erol Arcaklıoğlu who thanked for GTÜ’s hospitality and supporting them. “Unmanned aerial vehicles project is one of the projects we support in our country. UAV, generally known as military vehicle and used for under anti-terrorism. Even if there are purposes use of in military still in social life UAV’s getting more used day by day in the World. We can not remain indifferent to these developments so we will continue our institutions such events. There's a term we use for our contest: a competition without a loser.. Indeed, we see that each competitor gains advantages in these activities, "he said.

GTU UAV’s OPEN FLAG

Competitors attended from GTÜ displayed very successful performance and after flies they opened Turkey flag through flying UAV’s. GTÜ Team HUK –A was awarded in Helpfulness Category while GTÜ Team HUK-C was awarded in Safest Design Category. Meanwhile GTÜ student Mete Can Gazi deserved plate as he took off almost all UAV’s in the  contest as he was a Volunteered Pilot. Performance awards and awarded teams are listed below:
