GTU Launches Technological Cooperation with Iran

A committee at ministerial delegation from Iran made a visit to GTU in order to increase the scientific and technological cooperation between Turkey and Iran. The Committee started negotiations on bilateral projects with GTU.

The Iranian Committee which Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, Rector of Gebze Technical University (GTU) hosted, consisted of Iran's Deputy of Student Affair Organization Dr. Abolhasan Riazi, General Director of Graduates Affairs Dr. Mohammed Mahdavi, Deputy of the Center for International
Scientific Cooperation Farajollah Talebi, University of Tabriz International Cooperation Coordinator Dr. Hossein Sabouri. During the meeting held at the Conference Hall of the GTU Rectorate, necessary information about our university was given to the guests. Then, Iranian Committee was shown GTU Institute of Nanotechnology and Laboratories of Molecular Biology and Genetics Department and was given information about projects being carried out by department academics. Potential projects from Turkey and Iran which would contribute to international cooperation and scientific development of both countries were discussed. It was planned to make participate full-time faculty members, graduate and doctoral students participate in project-based exchange programmes within the scope of Mevlana Exchange Programme. During the meeting it was discussed that the project areas would be Big Data, Data Analytics, Internet of Things, Cell Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Robots and Smart Systems, Energy Technologies, Food Technologies, Space and Aerospace Technologies, Micro/Nano/Optoelectronic and Semiconductors Technologies, Defence Technologies, Smart Transportation Systems, Sustainable Environment Technologies. GTU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Babür Özçelik, GTU Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdurrahman Akyol,  GTU International Relations Coordinator Prof. Dr. Işıl Kurnaz, Prof. Dr. Hasan Aslan from Physics Department, Director of Institute of Nanotechnology Assoc. Prof. Dr. Numan Akdoğan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. from Physics Department Fikret Yıldız attended the meeting.
