Butterfly Fire at GTU

GTU students have fun around the "Butterfly Fire" lit on campus

As the final exams approach, the 5th "Butterfly Fire" event, which is traditionally held every year in order to contribute to the morale and motivation of the students, took place in the pond area of ​​Gebze Technical University (GTU). Organized jointly by GTU and Gebze Municipality, the event took place with participation of students from all faculties and departments. Gebze Mayor Zinnur Büyükgöz, GTU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Işıl Kurnaz, Gebze Chamber of Commerce (GTO) Chair Nail Çiler, and Turkish Red Crescent Chair Oya Tunçel also attended the event. 

The event started with GTU Vice Rector Işıl Kurnaz and other officials lighting the Butterfly Fire after the students gathered in the field. GTU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Işıl Kurnaz wished a successful year of studies for the students. GTO Chair Nail Çiler stated that they will always support GTU students and added that GTO will do its part for the student dormitory to be built on GTU campus. Gebze Mayor Zinnur Büyükgöz said that they were happy to come together with the youth and that they will always continue to support the students using all their means. For the stage shows that started with a DJ performance, rap music artists Tefo & Seko, GTU Art and Music Group, and İcaz the Band entertained the students. During the event, GTO Mobile Soup Kitchen, Turkish Red Crescent Gebze Branch and Doğuş Çay provided free food and beverage support.
