Asst. Prof. Dr. Ümit Barış Kutman Took Part as Invited Speaker At Growtech Eurasia 2022

GTU Biotechnology Institute Deputy Director Dr. Instructor Ümit Barış Kutman was an invited speaker at Growtech Eurasia 2022, the world's largest greenhouse agriculture fair, held on November 23-26 this year.

Within the scope of the fair, which has been held in Antalya every year for more than twenty years and attended by representatives of many agricultural sectors such as greenhouse cultivation, plant nutrition, agricultural machinery, plant protection, seed growing and seedling growing from many countries, a seminar program was organized, this year for the first time, four sessions under the name of "Agriculture Talks" open to all fair participants and visitors.In the first session of the program entitled "Agriculture in Space: Agricultural Technologies Everywhere" and moderated by agriculture writer Mine Ataman, Kutman gave a seminar called "Agriculture in Extreme Conditions". Kutman discusses the point where soilless and vertical farming technologies have come from, the technologies and products developed within the scope of university-industry collaborations in our country as GTU Biotechnology Institute, and how these technologies can be used for food production primarily in cities, then in extreme conditions in the world such as deserts and poles, and finally in space. In the same session, Turkish Space Agency President Dr. Serdar Yıldırım also attended as a speaker and talked about our country's national space program, emphasizing the importance of agriculture and food technologies for this program.
