Dr. Çiçek graduated from Istanbul Technical University Electronics and Communications Engineering Department in 2002 with Siemens Engineering Excellence Award and with high honors. He completed his master's degree at Sabancı University Electronics Engineering Department in 2004. He continued his academic career at Boğaziçi University and received his Ph.D. from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2014. He has worked as a hardware design specialist and communication security analyst at TUBITAK National Electronics and Cryptology Research Institute between 2009 and 2015. Dr. Çiçek was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Santa Barbara campus between 2015-2017. Between 2017 and 2020, he served as the Istanbul Şehir University Integrated Circuits Laboratory director. Joining İstinye University in 2020, Dr. Çiçek continued his research under the Digital Systems Laboratory he established at this university until 2022. He joined Gebze Technical University Electronics Engineering Department in 2022 as the founding director of Digital Electronics Technique Research Laboratory (DELTALAB).

His areas of interest can be summarized as analog and digital integrated circuit design, programmable logic devices, and their applications, cryptographic true random number generators, and secure embedded system design. Dr. Çiçek serves as a referee and author in national and international scientific journals such as IEEE Transactions on VLSI, IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I/II, IEEE Sensors, IEEE Transactions on Reliability, IEEE Transactions on Device and Material Reliability, Journal of Cryptographic Engineering, Integration-The VLSI Journal, IET Electronic Letters, International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
