Non-Thesis Master's Programme Frequently Asked Questions

 

1. Can I get information about applications to non-thesis master's programmes?
The student quotas of the non-thesis master's programmes, the requirements for application, the required documents, exam schedules and deadlines are announced by the Rectorate on the university web page in December and May. Applications for graduate programmes are made to the Registrar's Office until the deadline in accordance with the procedures and conditions specified in the graduate student admission announcement. Candidates make their applications electronically. 

 

2. How can I make my final registration?
Candidates who are successful in the entrance exam within the period specified in the Academic Calendar make their final registration electronically. The registration process is completed with the approval of the Student Affairs Department. 

 

3. How should I do my course registration?
On the dates specified in the Academic Calendar, the student registers the course from the Student Information System and submits it for the approval of the counsellor. 

 

4. How can I change my counsellor?
The student who is successful in the Graduate Entrance Examination is assigned an advisor until the end of the first semester at the latest with the recommendation of the Programme Executive Committee and / or the Head of the EABD and the decision of the EYK. Within the period specified in the Academic Calendar, the application of the student and / or the current advisor, the approval of the new advisor, the recommendation of the Programme Executive Committee and / or the Head of the EABD, is made by the decision of the EYK. The advisor cannot be changed during the semester in which the project will be submitted, except for force majeure.

 

5. Can I get information about the Graduate Credit System and Values?
At least 60 ECTS credits for non-thesis master's degree studies,

 

6. Can I freeze my enrolment? 
Students may be granted a leave of absence (during military service in case of military service) for justified and valid reasons specified by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) with the opinion of the advisor, the recommendation of the Programme Coordinator and/or the Head of the EABD and the decision of the EYK. 

 

7. I want to freeze my enrolment, when can I apply?
With the documentation of the reason for the leave of absence, an application is made to the Head of the Department within the first 3 (three) weeks starting from the beginning of the semester.

 

8. How many courses should I take in the non-thesis master's programme?
The non-thesis MA programme consists of at least 10 (ten) courses and a project, but not less than 30 (thirty) credits. 

 

9. Can I learn the duration of the non-thesis master's programme?
It is at least 2 (two) semesters and at most 3 (three) semesters regardless of whether you register for each semester. 

 

10. When will I be dismissed from the Master's Programme without Thesis?
At the end of 3 (three) semesters, the student who fails or cannot complete the programme, whose GPA is not at least 3.00 or who is not successful in his/her project is dismissed with the decision of the Executive Board.

 

11. I submitted my project to my supervisor, when can I graduate?
The non-thesis master's project delivery report, 1 (one) bound copy of the master's project and 2 (two) CDs covering the entire project, Project Compliance Report, Disassociation Form, Academic Plagiarism Programme Report are submitted to the Graduate School through the EABD Presidency until the date specified in the Academic Calendar.

 

12. When can I receive my diploma?
Diplomas are prepared by the Student Affairs Department. It is announced on the web page.
