1. What is the aim of the Business Administration Department?

The Department of Business Administration basically aims to provide the knowledge and skills needed to be successful at both individual and organisational levels. In this context, the aim of the Department of Business Administration is to train competent business professionals and entrepreneurs of the future by equipping them with both theoretical and practical knowledge in areas such as management, organisation, marketing, finance and human resources. 2. What are the career opportunities / fields of study after graduating from the Department of Business Administration?

Students of the Department of Business Administration graduate with theoretical and practical knowledge and skills through a wide range of courses in economics, marketing, finance, accounting, operations management, management information systems and management. The use of different methods such as case studies, individual and / or team projects, long-term compulsory internships, guest speakers from the sector both prepare students for business life and expand their network. In this context, business graduates can work in the private sector, public sector, entrepreneurship, academic career and international fields. They have the chance to find jobs in sectors such as management, finance, marketing, human resources.

3. Is the language of instruction/examination in the Business Administration Undergraduate Program Turkish or English?

During their undergraduate education, students are required to take at least 30% of the total credits corresponding to the courses in the curriculum of the department in which they are a student. The compulsory foreign language courses (ING111 English for Business Life ING112 Academic English) are not included in this 30%.

4. Is it compulsory to study Undergraduate English Preparatory Program?

Students who are enrolled take the English placement test organised and announced by the University. Those who certify that they are successful in national and international exams accepted as equivalent by the Senate at the level determined by the Senate become associate degree or undergraduate students without taking the English placement exam. Students who fail these exams or do not participate in these exams continue their English preparatory education at GTU Department of Foreign Languages. Students who cannot document their English language proficiency at the end of four semesters are dismissed from the University.

5. How many types of courses are there in the Business Administration undergraduate program? Which courses are included in the curriculum?

The curriculum includes compulsory, department elective, faculty elective, free elective, graduation study and internship and workplace training courses. In our department, which offers a wide range of courses in the fields of management-organisation, production management, marketing, accounting-finance, human resources, quantitative methods and management information systems, students can choose according to their interests.

6. How many credits can be taken in one semester?

The minimum semester credit load of undergraduate students is 20 ECTS. In exceptional cases, the minimum credit load may be reduced upon the application of the student, the recommendation of the relevant department and the decision of the faculty board of directors. The maximum credit load of students in a semester is 35 ECTS. For students who continue their double major or minor programs, a maximum total of 50 ECTS is applied.

 Students in the first and second semesters cannot exceed the usual credit load specified in the curriculum. As of the end of the second semester, students with a weighted grade point average of 1.99 and below cannot take more than 30 ECTS courses in one semester.

Upon the request of the student and the approval of the advisor, the maximum credit load can be increased to 40 credits if the GPA is at least 2.50.

7. What is a graduation study? Is the language of the graduation study Turkish or English?

It is compulsory for the student to do a graduation study showing that he/she has reached the desired professional level before graduation. The graduation study is included in the curriculum as the seventh and eighth semester course. Undergraduate students who have completed at least 160 ECTS can take the graduation study course, provided that they meet the prerequisite and co-requisite conditions specified in the course plan.

This study can be prepared in English if the student wishes and the graduation study coordinator approves. The distribution of the graduation study topics to the students can also be done in the previous semesters with the positive opinion of the counsellor and the decision of the department.

8. Do I have to do an internship? What is the duration of compulsory internships?

In order to successfully graduate from the Department of Business Administration, internship is compulsory. Our education system is in the form of 7+1 model. After completing your courses in the first 7 semesters, a 14-week compulsory internship is carried out in the curriculum. In order to start the internship, students must have at least 2.00 GPA and 180 ECTS course credits. Detailed information can be found in the Internship Directive numbered YÖ-0028.

9. Should the student find the internship place on his/her own?

Yes. Students find their internships themselves.

10. How many classes does student need to attend?

Attendance is compulsory for 70% of the theoretical courses and 80% of the applications. Students' attendance is monitored by the relevant faculty member or lecturer. Students who fail to meet the attendance requirement cannot take the final exam. Students who fail any course in terms of their grades despite meeting the attendance requirement must fulfil all the obligations related to the course, except for the attendance requirement for that course if they take the same course for the second time.

12. Can I change the course(s) I took during the registration period during the add-drop week?

Yes, you can. You can change the courses you have taken during the course registration week specified in the academic calendar during the add-drop week specified in the academic calendar.

13. I cannot see my courses that I registered with a petition during the add-drop week in OBS. My name does not appear in the course signature list, what can I do?

Course additions and subtractions are added to the system with the decision of the Faculty Administrative Board.  After your course changes are approved, you can get information from the department secretariat.

14. My lower course conflicts with the term course. What should I do in this case?

First of all, you should take the course you have taken below. Students can continue their education without prerequisites or prerequisite courses without overlapping courses and by complying with the credit limits.

15. Can I take a course I have taken before again?

Students are required to repeat all courses in which they received FF, VF, NA and U grades. Students who want to increase their weighted GPA can repeat the courses they have been successful except for the AA grade they have previously received. In case of repeating an elective course, another course can be selected from the elective course pool. The last grades taken for the repeated courses are valid.

16. I could not attend the midterm exam due to health problems, etc. What can I do?

Students who cannot take their exams due to justified and valid reasons are given the right to make-up exams to be used on the day and time to be determined by the instructor who teaches the course in the same semester with the decisions of the relevant board of directors. In order for students to take the make-up exam, they must submit their excuse petitions to the head of the department in which they are registered within 5 working days from the exam date.

17. What is the D exam?

Students who receive a grade of FF from the course in which they take the final exam are given a D exam at the time specified in the academic calendar for the semester in which they are enrolled in the course and the result is announced as a letter grade. The grade obtained from the D exam determines whether the student's passing grade will be raised to DD, regardless of the student's success in the semester. If the student is successful in the D exam, he/she receives a DD grade. Students who do not take the exam or fail to show sufficient success in the exam are given FF grade again. There is no D exam for courses such as internship, laboratory, project and graduation study. There is no make-up exam for D exam.

19. What are the graduation requirements for the Business Administration undergraduate program?

Undergraduate students are required to successfully complete all courses (240 ECTS) specified in the department curriculum in 8 semesters. In addition, since the language of instruction is 30% English, 30% English (73 ECTS) courses must be successfully completed as a graduation requirement. Finally, students who achieve a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 (GTU passing grade: CC - ECTS passing grade: E) are awarded the Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

20. What is a single course exam?

The single course exam is an exam that students who have completed all but one of the courses in the curriculum of the relevant program, except for internship courses, can take for the failed course.  Students who have only one course left can take the single course exam with the decision of the faculty board of directors for undergraduate students if they apply with a petition. In order to be successful in this exam, a minimum grade of CC is required. Single course exam right is not used in graduation and internship courses.

21. Is it possible to do double major/minor?

Students who want to enroll in a double major or minor program can apply to the programs announced by the student affairs at the beginning of the 3rd or 5th semester of the major undergraduate program. 22. Does your department have exchange programme opportunities?

In accordance with the agreement between the University and a university abroad, the University may send students to universities abroad for one or two semesters within the framework of student exchange programs. During this period, the student's registration at the university continues and this period is counted from the education period. With the approval of the student's counsellor, the courses taken by the student at the university abroad and how the success grades obtained from these courses will be reflected in the success status at the University are decided by the faculty board of directors by taking the opinion of the department adjustment commission.
