PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE SERVICES

1. How can I schedule an appointment with the Psychological Counseling and Guidance Unit?

You can schedule your appointment by logging into the Appointment System (randevu.gtu.edu.tr).

 

2. How long does a session last?

Sessions last 45 minutes. Both in-person and online sessions are available.

 

3. Who can benefit from the Psychological Counseling and Guidance Unit's services?

• Those who are currently enrolled as students,

• University staff and their first-degree relatives,

• Retired university staff and their first-degree relatives,

• Staff of the Çayırova Seed Certification Testing Directorate and their first-degree relatives, as per the protocol, may benefit from this service free of charge.

 

4. What should I do if I will not be able to attend my appointment?

If you are unable to attend your appointment, you must cancel it by logging in to randevu.gtu.edu.tr. If you will be more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, you are expected to schedule a new appointment.

 

5. For which matter should I schedule an appointment with the therapist?

You can seek help when you struggle to establish healthy relationships, feel your mental health is deteriorating, find it difficult to achieve your goals, have experienced challenging life events, need someone to listen, wish to embark on an inner journey, or face any other issues you find difficult to cope with.

 

6. What are the therapist's working hours? Where is the office located?

Working hours are from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The office is located on the 2nd floor of the KAGEM Building.

 

7. How can I obtain more information about Psychological Counseling and Guidance Services?

The required information may be viewed on the Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports's web page under the Directive for Pyschological Counseling and Guidance Unit.

 

 

 

DENTAL SERVICES

1. Do I need to make an appointment to receive dental services?

Yes, our dental unit provides services through an online appointment system. Patients without appointments are not accepted.

 

2. How do I schedule an appointment with the dental clinic?

You can schedule an appointment by logging in to the Dentist-Therapist Appointment System with your institutional e-mail and password and selecting the available date and time options.

 

3. I am having difficulty logging into the appointment system/receiving an error. What should I do?

If you encounter any issues with the system, you should contact the Directorate of Information Technology.

 

4. Can I still receive dental services if my family doctor registration is not with GTU Family Practice Center?

It is not necessary to transfer your family doctor registration to GTU in order to receive dental services from our institution.

 

5. Can my relatives also benefit from dental services?

Only the first-degree relatives of our institution's staff may benefit from dental services. (Directive for Dental Services)

 

6. What kind of procedures are performed at the dentist's?

Teeth cleaning, fillings, uncomplicated root canal treatment, fluoride application, suture removal, non-surgical tooth extractions, and bonding of fallen crowns and bridge prostheses. Prosthetics, surgery, implants, and surgical interventions are not performed.

 

7. Is it mandatory to bring an X-ray film when seeking dental treatment?

An X-ray film is not required for every procedure and every situation. What procedures require an X-ray can be better determined after an oral examination. Apart from that, it is ideal and recommended to have an X-ray examination as part of a routine 6-month checkup for every patient. 

 

 

 

GUEST HOUSE AND BEACH FACILITIES SERVICES

1. Who can use the guest house?

Guest house services are available for Gebze Technical University staff, students, and other public institution and organizations' staff. For the Implementation Procedures and Principles, please refer to the Gebze Technical University Directive for the Guest House.

 

2. How does the reservation process work?

For incoming calls, information is provided that reservations will be made via the e-mail address "misafirhane@gtu.edu.tr", and the guest shares their requested date range via e-mail. If the requested dates are available, payment information is shared with the guest. The reservation is confirmed once the payment receipt for the requested account and proof of public employee status are submitted to us.

 

3. How many people can stay in the rooms?

Detailed information about the facilities can be found on our Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports' web page under the Services category, Cultural Services section.

 

4. Are refunds available?

The refund process is initiated when reservation cancellations are requested in writing.

 

5. What is the maximum number of days that can be reserved at one time?

The maximum reservation period is 30 days. 

 

 

 

INDOOR TURF FIELD SERVICES

1. What are the requirements for using the indoor turf field? 

A reservation must be made in advance.

Appropriate sportswear and footwear must be worn.

Locker keys must be obtained from the facility staff.

Shoes that may damage the turf surface must not be worn.

The start and end times of the reserved session must be strictly followed.

The hourly fee must be paid in advance, and a payment receipt must be obtained before using the facility.

After confirming the field’s availability with the facility staff, proof of payment (the receipt) must be submitted to the sports facilities office within one hour, either by email, fax, or in person, for record purposes.

 

2. On which days and at what times can we use the indoor turf field services?

The facility is open on weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. It is closed on Sundays and public holidays.

 

3. Who can use the indoor turf field?

It is open to all stakeholders, with priority given to staff and students.

 

4. Is it possible to cancel a reservation, and is the fee refunded?

Cancellation is possible if made at least 3 days in advance.

 

5. How much are the indoor turf field usage fees?

The University Executive Board Decision on Sports and Accommodation Facilities, dated January 30, 2025, as published on the web page of the Directorate of Health, Culture, and Sports, applies. 

 

6. Are sports equipment, gloves, and turf shoes provided?

The university only provides balls and training vests.

 

 

 

PART-TIME STUDENT EMPLOYMENT

1. When and where can applications for part-time student employment be submitted?

The Part-Time Student Employment Program begins during the first week of the academic year with unit requests being accepted via an official letter. During the second week, the Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports Directorate sends an e-mail announcement, and student requests are accepted. The request collection process remains open throughout the current academic year. Applications are submitted to the Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports.

 

2. What are the requirements for participating in the Part-Time Student Employment Program?

Students must be enrolled at Gebze Technical University and must not have any disciplinary sanctions. Foreign students are not eligible to participate in the Part-Time Student Employment Program (YÖ-0025). In addition, to benefit from the program, students must not be employed elsewhere and must not have any insurance premiums paid on their behalf.

 

3. What are the working hours and wages under the Part-Time Student Employment Program?

In accordance with the Directive on Part-Time Student Employment, a work schedule is arranged so as not to exceed 4 hours per day and 15 hours per week. Payments are made in accordance with the same directive and must not exceed one-fourth of the minimum wage.

 

 

 

SOCIETY ACTIVITIES

1. What documents and steps are required to establish a society?

Under the Student Societies Directive (YÖ-0024), the documents for establishing a society, available on our Directorate's web page, must be completed with wet signatures and submitted to the Student Societies Committee. If the society to be established does not serve the same purpose as any existing student society, it is approved by the committee and begins its activities.

 

 

 

INDOOR SPORTS HALL SERVICES

1. What are the requirements for using the indoor sports hall?

• A reservation must be made in advance.

• Appropriate sportswear and footwear must be worn.

• Locker keys must be obtained from the hall staff.

• Footwear that may damage the floor must not be worn.

• The start and end times of the reserved session must be followed.

• The hourly fee must be paid in advance, and a payment receipt must be obtained before using the facility.

• After confirming with the facility staff that the hall is available at the requested time, proof of payment (the receipt) must be submitted to the sports facilities office within one hour for record purposes, either by email, fax, or in person.

Weekdays: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Weekends: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Closed on public holidays.

5. How much are the indoor sports hall usage fees?

6. Are sports equipment and shoes provided?

Balls are provided for basketball, volleyball, and table tennis. Shoes are not provided.
 

7. Is there a fee for table tennis?

No. Before playing, students must hand their student ID card to the attendant and may then borrow rackets and balls for use.


 

OUTDOOR SOCCER FIELD SERVICES

1. What are the requirements for using the outdoor soccer field?

• A reservation must be made after confirming with the facility staff that the outdoor soccer field is available at the desired time.

• After making a reservation, proof of payment for the outdoor soccer field usage fee must be submitted to the sports facilities office within one hour, either by email or in person, for record purposes.

• Appropriate sportswear and footwear must be worn when entering the field.

• Entry with casual shoes is prohibited, as they may damage the surface.

• Locker room keys must be obtained from the facility staff.

• The session durations determined according to the paid fee must be observed.

 

2. On which days and at what times can we use the outdoor soccer field?

SPORTS COMPLEX (INDOOR SWIMMING POOL - FITNESS) SERVICES

1. What services are offered at the Gebze Technical University Sports Complex?

The Gebze Technical University Sports Complex features an indoor swimming pool and a fitness center. The indoor swimming pool and fitness center have different pricing options. For membership information, please call +90 (262) 605 20 52. For usage fees, please refer to the University Executive Board Decision on Sports and Accommodation Facilities, dated January 30, 2025.

 

 

2. What hours can the Gebze Technical University Sports Complex be used?

The indoor swimming pool and fitness center are open every day except Monday, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. on weekdays, and from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on weekends.

The facilities are closed on Mondays for general cleaning and maintenance.

* After members leave the facility, cleaning, organization, and inspection procedures are carried out in all sports areas. Therefore, activities must be planned so that the facility is vacated by the closing time.

 

4. May I become a member of the indoor swimming pool only?

Yes, you may. Memberships at the Gebze Technical University Sports Complex are available in three different packages: indoor swimming pool, fitness center, or a combined membership for both. For more information about membership packages, please contact us at +90 (262) 605 20 52.

6. Is there an age limit for using the indoor swimming pool?

There is an age limit of 18 for individual pool memberships. Users over 2 years old and under 18 years old may only use the pool under a Family Membership with their parents. 

There is an age limit of 18 for fitness memberships. Users between the ages of 16 and 18 may only use the fitness areas under the Family Membership with their parents. 

 

7. Do I need to sign a membership agreement?

Yes, you must sign a membership agreement when registering at the Gebze Technical University Sports Complex. The agreement includes detailed information and rules regarding your membership. By signing this agreement, you also agree to comply with the Gebze Technical University Sports Complex Rules of Use. Please make sure to read it carefully before becoming a member. 8. When can I start exercising after becoming a member of the Gebze Technical University Sports Complex?

After becoming a member of the Gebze Technical University Sports Complex, you can start using our facilities on the same day if you have the necessary equipment* with you. 

 

9. May I transfer my Gebze Technical University Sports Complex membership to another person?

Memberships are personal and may not be transferred to anyone else.

 

10. What happens to my membership after my Gebze Technical University Sports Complex membership period ends?

When your Gebze Technical University Sports Complex membership period ends, you will become an inactive member and will not be able to enter the facility. If you wish to continue your membership, you must renew your registration. You can track information about your membership periods via the Gebze Technical University Sports Complex app. You can inquire about the renewal options with customer service.

 

11. I would like to renew my Gebze Technical University Sports Complex membership. What should I do?

To renew your Gebze Technical University Sports Complex membership, you may apply in person at the facility and receive detailed information.

 

12. Are there any changing rooms and lockers at the Gebze Technical University Sports Complex?

The Gebze Technical University Sports Complex has shared changing rooms and lockers for both the indoor swimming pool and the fitness center.

 

13. How can I use the lockers in the changing rooms?

There are lockers in the shared changing rooms of the indoor swimming pool and fitness center that can be locked with a padlock. You can use them by bringing your own padlock. The lockers are for single-use sessions, so you must not leave them locked permanently. Every evening, the lockers are checked, and the locks on any lockers left locked will be broken. 

 

14. Is there a cafe in the Gebze Technical University Sports Complex building?

No, but there are cafeterias and a supermarket near the building.

 

15. What should I bring with me when coming to the Gebze Technical University Sports Complex?

If you are going to use our fitness facilities, you must bring clean sports shoes, sportswear, and a towel. Working out in the area without a towel, wearing everyday shoes, slippers, or everyday clothes are not permitted.

If you are going to use the indoor swimming pool, you must have a swimsuit, slippers, and a swimming cap with you.

 

16. Do I need to bring a towel with me?

Yes, the use of a sweat towel is mandatory for all activities in our fitness centers. Towel service is not provided for showers.

 

17. Are there swimming courses at Gebze Technical University?

Swimming courses for adults or children are offered at our indoor swimming pool through external clubs.

 

18. Are there group classes at the Gebze Technical University Sports Complex fitness facility?

No, our group classes are not currently available.

 

19. Is there a personal trainer service available at the Gebze Technical University Sports Complex?

Our personal trainer service is not currently available. We are making preparations to offer it as soon as possible.

 

20. Is wheelchair access available at the Gebze Technical University Sports Complex?

The main entrance of the Gebze Technical University Sports Complex is wheelchair-accessible. Once inside the building, you can access the indoor swimming pool and the fitness center on the upper floor via the elevator, with direct access to the cardio area.

 

 

NUTRITION COUNSELING AND DIETARY SERVICES

1. How can I schedule an appointment for Nutrition Counseling and Dietary Services?

Our institution provides Nutrition Counseling and Dietary Services for individuals who make an online appointment through the university’s "Appointment Tracking System" (randevu.gtu.edu.tr). Services are available from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and are not provided on weekends or public holidays. 

 

2. What procedures are performed in Nutrition Counseling and Dietary Services?

Our Nutrition Counseling and Dietary Services include the following:

·   Evaluation of individuals’ anthropometric measurements, medical history, and eating habits.
·   Provision of healthy nutrition education to individuals.
· Preparation of personalized nutrition programs by dietitians based on each individual’s age, gender, and special dietary requirements. Counseling, treatment (including assessment through laboratory tests), and follow-up evaluation services are also provided.

 

3. How long do Nutrition Counseling and Dietary Services appointments last?

Initial consultations are scheduled in the morning and typically last about 45 minutes, while follow-up sessions are scheduled in the afternoon and typically last about 30 minutes.

 

4. What forms and documents are required from the service-using individual during the initial consultation for Nutrition Counseling and Dietary Services?

During the initial consultation, individuals are asked to bring a “3-Day Food Consumption Record” (FR-0829) and blood test results from the past six months for the assessment of their nutritional and health status.

 

5. What should I do if I cannot attend my appointment?

Individuals who will be more than 15 minutes late for their appointment may need to schedule a new one to ensure the process runs smoothly and does not disrupt the following sessions. Individuals who will not be able to attend their appointment must cancel it through the Appointment Tracking System (randevu.gtu.edu.tr) at least one hour before the scheduled time.

 

6. What are the working hours for Nutrition Counseling and Dietary Services? Where is the office located?
