Our academicians attended the Agricultural Workshop

Metropolitans met in Kocaeli to talk about the future of agriculture. Organized by the International Association of Agricultural Cities (Agricities) hosted by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality 2. Our academics contributed to the Local Governments and Agriculture Workshop.

The 2nd Local Governments and Agriculture Workshop, hosted by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality with the slogan "30 Metropolitan, together for agriculture," was held in Kocaeli on 02-03 November 2022. Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Prof. Dr. Together with Vahit KİRİŞÇİ, Kocaeli Governor Seddar YAVUZ, Kocaeli Metropolitan Mayor Tahir BÜYÜKAKIN, International Agricultural Cities Union and Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim ALTAY, participating provincial and district mayors and participants from abroad, as well as Gebze Technical University (GTU) Rector Advisor Prof. Dr. Ebubekir YÜKSEL, GTU, Smart Agriculture Research and Application Center (ATAM) Director Prof. Dr. Yelda ÖZDEN DOUBLE and Assistant Directors Dr. Faculty Member Mine GÜL ŞEKER and Dr. Faculty Member Nurgül KITIR ŞEN attended. General Manager of Herbal Production, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Dr. The workshop, which was attended by Mehmet HASDEMİR and Kocaeli Provincial Deputy Director of Agriculture Ali KOÇ and his team, discussed the cooperation projects jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture and Kocaeli Provincial Directorate of Agriculture within GTU.

Speaking at the session on Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Dr. Hasan Aydınlık gave information to the participants about the TABIP project with the presentation. Then, one of the faculty members of our university, Prof. Dr. Yelda ÖZDEN FARMER, Dr. Faculty Member Mine GÜL ŞEKER and Assoc. Dr. Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Seracılık A.Ş. General Manager Ismail Kaya introduced it. Stating that the Greenhouse Center of Excellence is based on 53-field decare, Kaya said in his presentation: "This will be a beautiful school besides agriculture. Our students will receive very efficient information from here and other projects." GTU, ATAM Deputy Director Mine GÜL ŞEKER stated that they are happy to be a partner of the Greenhouse Center of Excellence as a university and presented the works carried out by GTU, ATAM within the scope of the project.
