Press and Publication Policies

 

GTU adopts a transparent, accurate and ethical communication policy in the field of press and public relations. This policy ensures that the academic and administrative activities of the university are conveyed to the public in an accurate and effective manner. GTU acts in accordance with national and international press principles and maintains its institutional reputation and academic prestige.


In line with this policy, GTU's press and publication principles are as follows

News Publication Areas: News about the university is shared accurately and in a timely manner through the official website, e-publications, social media accounts and press organisations.

5N1K Principle: In all news, ‘What, Where, When, How, Why and Who’ questions are answered clearly and completely, complex and ambiguous statements are avoided.

News Value: News that is of interest to the public, academically, socially and scientifically useful and informative are prioritised.

News Content: GTU's decisions, events, academic achievements and scientific projects are presented with accurate and complete information.

Attracting the Attention of the Press: Press releases are prepared in a professional format, supported by attention-grabbing headlines and concrete data.

Not publishing content that is not finalised: News that is not finalised or has no official basis is not published, and approved information is used in the news.

Avoiding Acknowledgement Texts: People or organisations are not thanked in the news, official language is preserved.

Protocol Order: The official protocol order is followed in news articles.

Emphasising that GTU is the Upper Roof: The university's name is always included in news headlines and introductory sentences.

Reputation and Informing: News that will enhance the university's reputation and inform the public is prioritised.

Publication Rules: News is written in accordance with newspaper and agency rules, and an impartial and clear language is used.

Final Approval: Each news item is approved by the relevant unit or authorised person before publication.

National Press: The news prepared for the national press are more remarkable and special news.

Spelling and Language Rules: The spelling and punctuation rules determined by the Turkish Language Association are followed in the writing of the news, and Turkish equivalents are preferred instead of foreign words.

Sensitivity and Ethical Values: News content is prepared in accordance with ethical values and free of discrimination and hate speech.

Accuracy and Reliability: All news items are based on verified and reliable sources.

Citing Sources: In news based on academic and scientific data, the sources are stated accurately and completely.

Visual Usage Principles: Images that comply with copyright, are of high quality and relevant to the news are used in the news.

Monitoring and Feedback: The impact of published news is monitored and processes are improved according to feedback.

 

The transparency and impact of GTU's press release policies are continuously improved and accurate and effective information transfer to the society is ensured.

 

 

 

Institutional Identity

 the expressions used in the images and communicative resources of the university are designed in a way to reflect Gebze Technical University. All divisions and departments of our university are expected to approach this issue with great sensitivity for the improvement of institutional sense of belonging and use the institutional identity definitions correctly.
