Chemistry as a scientific field, which studies and applies the structure, properties, combinations, and reactions of matter, plays a key role in research conducted in conjunction with other basic sciences, material science, medicine, environmental health, and energy. Chemistry contributes to every aspect of our daily lives with products that extend human life and make it easier.

The Chemistry Department at Gebze Technical University cultivates distinguished chemists, advanced chemists, and PhD-level chemists who are aware of occupational health and safety, and environmental issues, possess professional competence and scientific ethics, follow innovations, and effectively use information sources. These individuals evaluate concepts, ideas, and data in the field of chemistry using scientific methods and develop evidence-based and research-driven proposals that our country needs.

The fact that undergraduate program is 100% in English, and the graduate program is 30% in English, provides significant advantages for our students in accessing current information and following global literature. 

Students who meet the necessary qualifications have the opportunity for double major and minor programs. Additionally, both undergraduate and postgraduate students can participate in the Erasmus exchange program, enabling them to study at prestigious universities in Europe.

Throughout their undergraduate studies, our students have the opportunity to use many instruments thanks to our advanced laboratory infrastructure and develop themselves by participating in various projects. In graduate studies, we have students from various industrial and research institutions, and with the developed collaborations, industry-oriented theses are conducted, and active collaborations are maintained.

According to the "University Monitoring and Evaluation General Report-2023," graduates of Gebze Technical University's Chemistry Department find employment quickly due to the quality and practical training they receive, enabling them to work in desired positions prior to or immediately after graduation. Our postgraduates are in high demand from leading industrial organizations, research institutes, and academic institutions both nationally and internationally.

We invite all students interested in chemistry to join our department with a strong academic staff (19 Professors, 4 Associate Professors, 5 Assistant Professors, 23 Research Assistants, and 7 Lecturers), which is located at the heart of the national industry, and advanced technological research and laboratory infrastructure (25 Research, 5 Instrumental, and 5 Student Laboratories). We also express our happiness to welcome students, researchers, industrialists, public institution members, and anyone interested in scientific consultancy, potential scientific collaborations, and partnerships.
