Double Major and Minor Programmes

Double Major Program

Undergraduate students of the Department of Mathematics apply to the Double Major Program based on the provisions of the Double Major Program (DMP) Directive. Students can apply to the announced double major program at the beginning of the 3rd or 5th semester of their major undergraduate program. The student must have taken and successfully completed all credit courses required to be taken in the major undergraduate program until the semester of application and must have a GPA of at least 3.00 at the time of application. In addition, he/she must be in the top twenty percent of the success ranking in the relevant class of the major diploma program.

Students whose GPA in the major diploma program is 3.00 out of 4.00, but who are not in the top 20% of the relevant class of the major diploma program in terms of success ranking, who have a score not less than the base score of the program to be double majored in the relevant year can also apply to the double major program. Applications for the double major program are made to the departments of the double major program with the application form and transcript on the date determined by the University Senate. The Department of Mathematics has double major program agreements with the Department of Physics, the Department of Industrial Engineering and the Department of Electronic Engineering.

Minor Program

The Department of Mathematics offers its students the opportunity to minor with all departments of GTU. Applications are made based on the provisions of the Minor Program Directive. Students can apply to the announced minor program at the beginning of the 3rd or 5th semester of the major undergraduate program, provided that they have successfully completed all credit courses in the undergraduate program they have taken until the semester they apply. The GPA at the time of application must be at least 2.50.

Applications are made in writing to the minor faculty dean's offices with the application form and transcript on the date determined by the University Senate. The admission process is completed with the decision of the board of directors of the faculty to which the applied department is affiliated. Accepted students register for the major and minor within the registration week. The student whose application to the minor program is accepted must take the courses given in Appendix I.4.1 determined by the senate decision within the scope of the minor program and must succeed in these courses.
