In accordance with Article 47 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547 and the “Regulation on the Implementation of the Medico-Social Health, Culture and Sports Affairs Departments of Higher Education Institutions” published in the Official Gazette No. 18301, and based on the “Directive on the Establishment and Operation of Student Societies (YÖ:0024)”, Gebze Technical University Student Societies have been established to enable students of Gebze Technical University to make productive use of their time outside formal education and to contribute to their social, cultural, artistic, sportive, and academic development. The procedures and principles regarding the functioning and activities of these societies are regulated in accordance with the relevant directive.
There are a total of 71 student societies at our university. Activities are carried out in coordination with the societies operating within the faculties and institutes. The Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports also supervises, on behalf of the Rectorate, the establishment and operation of faculty and institute societies in accordance with the Directive on the Establishment and Operation of Student Societies. These societies operate in various fields such as culture, arts, sports, science, research, and social activities. Student societies not only enrich the social and cultural lives of students and contribute to their personal development but also serve as a means of socialization. For this reason, the Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports continues to support students in enhancing their social engagement and works in close collaboration with the societies to help make Gebze Technical University a truly social university.
