47 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547. In accordance with Article 47 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547 and in accordance with the ‘Directive on the Establishment and Functioning of Student Societies (YÖ:0024)’ prepared on the basis of the ‘Regulation on the Implementation of the Higher Education Institutions Medico-Social Health, Culture and Sports Affairs Department’ published in the Official Gazette No. 18301, ‘Gebze Technical University Student Societies’ have been established in order to contribute to the social, cultural, artistic, sportive and academic development of Gebze Technical University students by making use of their time outside of education and training, and the procedures and principles regarding their functioning and activities are regulated in accordance with the relevant directive.

There are a total of 70 student societies at our university. Activities are carried out in coordination with the societies operating in Faculties/Institutes. Our Presidency also supervises the establishment and functioning of Faculty/Institute societies on behalf of the Rectorate in accordance with the Student Societies Directive. These societies operate in many fields such as culture, art, sports, science, research, social activities. Student societies, which enrich the social and cultural lives of students and contribute to their personality development, are also a means of socialising students. For this reason, the Department of Health, Culture and Sports continues to support students to increase their social activities and works in cooperation with the societies to make Gebze Technical University a social university.
