The Ethics Committee for Human Research was established by the decision of the University Senate dated July 11, 2018 (Session No. 2018/08), based on the principles set forth in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Declaration of Helsinki, Law No. 5176 dated May 25, 2004 on the Establishment of the Ethics Committee for Public Officials and Amendments to Certain Laws, and the Regulation on the Principles of Ethical Conduct for Public Officials and the Procedures for Application, published in the Official Gazette No. 25785 on April 13, 2005.
The Committee consists of seven members selected by the Rector from among the University's academic staff in order to evaluate the ethical compliance of experiments, investigations, and field research involving or conducted on human subjects, in accordance with universal scientific ethical standards. The members elect a chairperson from among themselves.
