Ethics Committee

 

The Ethics Committee was established pursuant to Articles 24, 42, and 65 of Law No. 2547 and based on the decision of the Higher Education Council General Assembly dated November 10, 2016, numbered 2016.23.497, which enacted the Higher Education Council Directive on Scientific Research and Publication Ethics.
 

 

DUTIES:

1 - To investigate allegations of ethical violations; to obtain expert or specialist opinions through the Rectorate when necessary, to conduct correspondence with relevant individuals and institutions, request information, and carry out other necessary procedures within the scope of the investigation.

2 - To submit the decisions taken as a result of the investigation to the Rector.

3 - To make proposals to the rector to ensure that educational activities are organised in cooperation with the relevant units or institutions and organisations in order to eliminate possible unethical actions in academic, research and publication ethics,

4 - To determine the procedures for the implementation of ethical principles and rules.

5 - To establish principles or rules for ethical issues not addressed in national or international texts when encountered.

6 - To provide opinions upon request regarding dilemmas and problems by individuals and units related to ethical principles and standards in their work, decisions, and practices.

7 - To assess the compliance of new methods and technologies with ethical principles and standards.

8 - To establish subcommittees when necessary.

 

 

To carry out the following activities concerning scientific and publication ethics:

1 - To develop policies aimed at preventing violations of scientific ethical principles.

2 - To establish ethical guidelines ensuring that research partially or fully supported or conducted by the University is carried out in accordance with ethical standards.

3 - To define the principles of publication ethics for the University’s scientific journals.

4 - To promote a culture of scientific research and publication ethics and enhance awareness of these values within the University.

5 - To organize educational activities related to scientific and publication ethics, and to collaborate with other institutions and organizations when necessary within this scope.
