The purpose of the GTU Academic Promotion and Evaluation Board is to raise the academic standards of the faculty members of Gebze Technical University, to intensify academic promotion, to increase academic activities at national and international level, to ensure that these activities have original qualities that can compete in the competitive environment in the fields of science and art, to be directed towards the service of society and humanity, to contribute to the university's education and training service and the University's Research University performance targets by developing science and art publications in a unique way in terms of quality and quantity, and to ensure that education is implemented at contemporary standards.
Academic Promotion and Appointment Conditions determine the minimum level in the academic structure of Gebze Technical University. Achievement of this level and AYDEK approval do not constitute a gaining right for the candidate. AYDEK approval is only a determining criterion for the acceptance or rejection of promotion and appointment applications.
In the evaluation of the applications by the scientific jury after AYDEK approval, it is compulsory to evaluate the academic qualifications and performance of the candidate in detail. In the evaluation, the candidate's place in the relevant discipline, his/her contribution to education, professional experience and contributions, the contributions he/she has brought or may bring towards the goals of the unit to which he/she applies, his/her contribution to the university/unit management and other university services are taken into consideration. It is essential that promotions and appointments are open to applications from within and outside GTU and encourage academic competition.
Duties of the Board It was established in accordance with the Academic Promotion and Evaluation Board Directive with the decision of the University Senate dated 05.12.2018 and session number 2018/14. Duties of the board within the scope of Article 6;
• The applications of faculty member candidates are examined quantitatively by AYDEK within the framework of the "GTU Academic Promotion and Appointment Conditions Directive" according to the scientific studies and other academic activities they have documented, and a preliminary evaluation is made to ensure that the minimum conditions are met.
• The results of the preliminary assessment are notified to the candidates within one month from the deadline for application during the vacancy announcement periods and within one month from the application of the candidate outside the announcement periods.
• The applications in the cadre announcement periods are evaluated by AYDEK and the result is recorded on the "Notification and Evaluation Form Regarding the Provision of the Minimum Requirements for Academic Promotion and Appointment" (Annex 2) and delivered to the candidate against signature. A copy of the form of the candidate whose evaluation result is positive is added to the candidate application file and the jury evaluation process is started.
• Applications outside of the cadre announcement periods are evaluated by AYDEK according to the minimum requirements and the result is recorded on the "Notification and Evaluation Form Regarding the Minimum Requirements for Academic Promotion and Appointment" (Annex 2) and delivered to the candidate against signature. The candidate gains the right to apply for the advertised positions that are suitable for the field of science in which he / she meets the minimum requirements. The "GTU Academic Promotion and Appointment Conditions Directive" in force on the date of the announcement is taken as basis for the applications.
• Candidates whose AYDEK application result is negative can object to the result within maximum two weeks. The appeals are evaluated by the AYDEK board and finalised within one month at most. The conditions of the "GTU Academic Promotion and Appointment Conditions Directive" in force on the date of the announcement are taken as basis for tenure applications.
• In the event that AYDEK is informed of an investigation initiated against the candidate with the allegation that there is a publication or study contrary to academic ethics rules, the evaluation is suspended and the allegation is sent to the GTU Ethics Committee.
