In Turkey, the issue of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) was first formally addressed through Law No. 6331. This law encompasses all employees without distinction between the public and private sectors. Rather than adopting a reactive or rule-based approach, the law emphasizes a preventive strategy aimed at reducing workplace accidents and occupational diseases. Within this framework, risk assessments are to be conducted in advance, employees are to undergo periodic health surveillance, and the records of workplace accidents and occupational illnesses are to be made more effective and up to date. Emergency action plans are to be developed, employees are to receive relevant training, and administrative sanctions will be applied to ensure the effective implementation of the law. |
