General Information

Researching on Materials, especially: *Reaction transformations, mass and dimensional changes of ceramics and glasses with temperature changes.

* Making observations about sintering behaviour of ceramic materials.
*Determination of surface charge of powders or powder size materials in fluid conditions.
*Also characterizing the surface properties and topography of thin film coatings.
With these apparatus equipped at laboratory it would be possible to reveal characteristics and behavior of materials
in a reliable way to support researches at Material Science and Engineering Department.

Laboratory Staff

Adem ŞEN (Technician), Ali Sabri BERKEM (Research Assistant, MSc.),  Güray Eren Gören (Research Assistant)

Applications

• Determination of particle size distrubution of raw material powders.
• Computation of Zeta Potential values at suspensions and solutions.
• Finding the thermal expansion coefficients of the materials at normal atmospheric conditions.
• Determination of reaction kinetics and transformation temperatures of endothermic and exothermic reactions.
• Observation of mass change of materials depending on the temperature.
• Determination of optimum sintering temperature and duration of ceramic bodies.
• Identification of critical viscosity and contact angle of ceramic glazes.
• The identification and characterization of the surface topography of the surface coatings.
